LUBE YOUR LOCKS

After washing your car, spray your locks with WD40 then work the key in and out of the cylinder to move the tumblers up and down to clean them. If you can use liquid teflon spray, this is the best cause it woun't freeze and it protects the tumblers.

USE YOUR KEY

If you use a remote to lock and unlock your car, you should use the key at least once a week to keep the tumblers free, just incase the batteries in your remote die, your key will still work.

RECORD YOUR KEY NUMBERS

Nex time you go to a locksmith, have him/her decode your car keys and write down your key code. If you ever lose your keys you can have the locksmith cut up a new one by code and save yourself money.

SIMPLE, EFFECTIVE SECURITY

If your business location is a typical storefront (glass and aluminum), a burglar can often be inside your premises almost as fast as you can with a key! The thugs have discovered an easy way into most businesses like yours. How? Through the front door! That's right,. The burglar's "Key" is really a pair of Channel-Lock pliers. They use them to "wrench" the lock cylinder out of the door! Once the lock mechanism is exposed, it's a simple matter to manipulate the lock open. An accomplished thief can be inside your store or office in under a minute with little or no noise. That's why "wrenching" is fast becoming the preferred entry method for the bad guys and gals.

Obviously, the easiest way to prevent your business from being burglarized is to take away the burglar's ability to use thier "Key". Place around each lock cylinder, cylinder gurads do just that. A cylinder guard is a formed collar (tapered and free spinning) of steel that fits around the lock cylinder, offering solid protection. If the thief could get a good grip on the cylinder gauard with thier Channel-Locks, all they could is spin the collar around the lock cylinder.... without harming the cylinder. We'll be glad to install this economical protection for you and offer other quick, valid and tested solutions to address your paticular security needs and requirements.

Security Checklist

Have you had your home re-keyed since you moved in?

Do you know how many keys to your new home are in existence and exactly who has them?

Do all the locks in your home operate with a single key?

Are all outside doors made of metal or solid wood?

Do you have reinforced strikes and hinge pins secured to the frame of each exterior door to prevent them from being kicked in?

Do your entrance doors have solid cores and do they have 1" throw deadbolt locks? Do they "throw" all the way?

Do you have door viewers (peep-holes) on all exterior doors? Including the door between your house & garage?

Does your garage door close tightly? Is there an overhead door track padlock?

Have you had a locksmith or a security specialist evaluate the security of your new home?

PROVIDE YOUR HOME OR BUISNESS WITH THE SECURITY YOU NEED!

If you answered NO to three or more of these questions, your RISK FACTOR is dangerously HIGH, and your home is not as secure or safe as it should be.

By having a locksmith or security specialist come to your home to make an evaluation, you can determine the degree of security that you should have.

You may want to change the locks to operate with a new key if you do not know how many keys are in existence and exactly who has them.

If you are installing locks, buy the better quality ones. They are only slightly more expensive and are physically more secure--they have hardened inserts to protect against drilling. Protection against lock picking adds little overall to your security since burglars almost always go the brute force route.

Doors should be secured with reinforced strikes and hinge pins. Having deadbolts installed is a mandate.

Wyman's Locksmith can install locks that are decorative and secure. If you are a do-it-yourselfer, ask the security specialist doing your survey to help you with advice, hardware, and certain keying requests.

Make security in your home a priority, and give your family the gift of safety and yourself peace of mind.
